“In a space marked by a white square the size of
a boxing ring, each duo will embody some of this unrest which prompts a being
to go towards another. In its final version, the entire piece will encompass
a series of queries on the difficulty to share the same space with a partner.
[…] In Duo 2, Anna is the one to enter onto the stage first. She points out
her partner’s absence and assesses the situation; she measures her penalty
area. Her hesitation in the assessment of the space highlights her weaknesses.
She dances subtly with her limbs close to her body, she does not try to herald
what her presence is enough to fill in, and lost in the murky marshes of her
hesitation, she brilliantly portrays a woman yearning for some harmony.
Her partner’s entry brings disruption to the scene. Troubled, carried away
with his chaotic gestures, this man in a hurry puts out his tongue in her presence,
as if he was ill and grasping for breath. It is vital that their encounter
be marked by the sharing of space, which is soon represented by the surface
of their skin. The duo ends in an appeased half-light, which reminds the audience
that often, the mystery of an encounter between two beings is simply down to
a small quantity of air in suspension.”
